지난밤 진량읍 소재 폐기물재활용업체에서 시작된 대형화재로 인근 6개 업체 공장들이 불에 타면서 상당한 재산피해를 입었다.
소방당국에 따르면 지난 19일 저녁 7시 40분께 진량읍 소재 폐기물재활용 업체인 호경산업 공장에서 화재가 발생해 약 6시간 만에 진화됐다.
이 불로 호경산업 공장 철골조 1층 3동(841㎡)이 전소됐고 불이 인근 5개 공장으로 번지면서 총 6개 업체의 공장 7개 동이 전소되고 1개 동이 일부 불에 탔다.
다행히 공장에 있던 직원들은 모두 퇴근한 뒤여서 인명피해는 나타났다.
화재 신고를 접수한 소방당국은 ‘대응1단계’를 발령하고 진화인력 88명과 장비 33대를 투입해 연소확산 차단과 초기 진화에 나서, 저녁 10시 24분께 주불을 진압하고 다음 날 1시께 불길을 완전히 잡았다.
소방당국과 경찰은 화재 진압 후 목격자와 직원 등 진술을 토대로 정확한 발화원인과 피해 규모 등을 조사 중이다.
